LOLITA TYPOGRAPHY

Photoshop

This is the scan of my drawn lettering on paper.
After cleaning the image up with altering contrast and brightness and levels I then rearranged the words in the correct order in a stylistic manner.

This is the new arrangement of words which was then ready to be developed into a digital/ vector image in Adobe Illustrator.

Adobe Illustrator

This is my hand drawn lettering converted to a vector image, allowing me to edit and digitalise the letters for a professional finish.
---------------
Once my text was converted into a vector image I was then able to play around with the colour, sharpen wobbly lines and play with scale.
These are some samples of the lettering in various colours to see which works best.

I decided that the pink text worked better as it has the link with my Lolita cover and compliments what the text is saying.

The Wizard of Oz

Photoshop

This is the scan of my lettering on paper.

Once my image was scanned in I was then able to clean my letters up with the use of contrast and brightness.

I was still playing around with contrast and threshold at this point, preparing it for illustrator.

Once my I had cleaned my image I then began to rearrange the words in a more appealing way.

Once I had arrange my letters I was then able to place decorative lines to fill the gaps and help balance the image, making it more effective and appealing.

Once I had finished in photoshop I then opened my image in illustrator, converted it to a vector image by tracing it, adjusting the threshold and expanding it. Once I did this I was then able to to start editing my letters individually. This image shows the entire image in one colour and having to delete the unwanted access colour in the letter counters.

This is my final image for The Wizard of Oz.
I wanted something smart, traditional, classic and eye catching.

This text works well with the great gatsby as the writing suggests 'fast',
and the 1920s was a 'fast' decade with parties and fancy cars.
And as Gatsby drives a fast fancy car I felt this text worked best rather than something delicate and traditional.

sticking with black and white compliments the book cover illustration.

After I had cleaned my image up on Photoshop and prepared it for Illustrator I then converted the image to a vector image which allows me to edit the text and develop it.
These two images show the differences with a high or low threshold, which will make all the difference when I further develop it with colour and clean up.
